Behind the Scenes: How Yougi Ensures Purity and Quality

In a market flooded with wellness products, it is fair to be sceptical. Not everything labelled natural is natural, and not every scented product tells you what is really inside it. Yougi is built on the opposite instinct: know exactly what goes in, and be able to explain it. Here is what that looks like in practice.

Sourcing with integrity

Everything starts with the raw materials. We work with a small number of trusted suppliers and ask for full documentation on every oil we buy, so we can trace what is in the bottle back to the plant and the batch it came from. If an oil cannot be traced, we do not use it.

You can read what each oil is, where it comes from and what it brings to a blend in our oil library.

Gentle extraction methods

How an oil is extracted shapes how it smells and how it behaves in a blend. The oils we use are produced by two traditional methods:

  • Steam distillation. This age-old process captures the essence of plants such as lavender or eucalyptus without solvents.
  • Cold pressing. Citrus oils such as lemon and bergamot are pressed rather than heated, which keeps them bright and fresh.

Checking every batch

Before anything carries the Yougi label, it is checked.

  • Composition reports. Gas chromatography reports show the chemical make-up of an oil, so we can confirm it is pure and unadulterated rather than cut with a synthetic.
  • Sensory checks. Every batch is smelled and assessed by hand before it goes near a product, because a report cannot tell you whether a blend actually sings.

Transparency you can check

Safety data sheets and allergen information are available for our products, so you can see a detailed breakdown of what you are burning, wearing or putting on your skin. All of our materials are 100% natural, cruelty-free and made in the UK. You can buy the same oils we blend with from our pure essential oils collection.

Packaging that protects the product

Quality is not only about the contents. It extends to what holds them.

  • Eco-friendly materials. We use recyclable and biodegradable packaging wherever we can.
  • Frosted bottles. Essential oils are bottled in frosted glass, which shields them from the sunlight that degrades an oil over time.

Still learning

The world of botanicals is vast, and we are still students of it. We keep testing new blends, refining old ones and listening to what customers tell us. Much of what we make now started as a conversation in the studio or a question in a workshop.

Behind every Yougi product is a slow, careful process that puts purity first. If you want to smell the difference for yourself, explore our natural candles and home fragrances and see what clean, honest ingredients actually smell like.
