Forest Bathing Candle
Specifications
Forest Bathing is wet wood and cold air, the green hush of a forest after rain. Hinoki cypress, Chamaecyparis obtusa, with pine, cedarwood, juniper berry and black pepper. Emily made it in autumn, from a memory of the onsen bathhouses of the Japanese mountains, the cedar dark with water and the steam lifting off the surface. Soy wax. Cotton wick. Hand-poured. Around 50 hours, 20 for the mini and 80 for the three-wick.
The breath slows.
Five essential oils. Every one named.
Single-origin, sourced from the grower who knows them best. No carriers, no extenders, no synthetic fragrance.

How to burn Forest Bathing Candle.
A candle is only as good as the way it's burned. Four steps, the same for every Yougi vessel.
-
Trim the wick.
Before every burn, trim to a centimetre. A shorter wick prevents soot and smoke, and the flame runs clean.
-
Let the wax pool.
On the first burn, let the wax reach the edge of the vessel before you put it out. Two to four hours. This prevents tunnelling and protects your hours of burn.
-
Burn in sessions.
Two to four hours at a time. Let it rest between burns: the scent needs the pause.
-
Retire gracefully.
When the wax falls below a centimetre, stop burning. Send us the empty vessel and we'll refill it for thirty percent less than a new candle.
The blend, in its other forms.
The same scent where it is made, and the nearest to it where it is not.
