Lemon Verbena
Aloysia citrodora
Bright, lemony, a little grassy.
Lemon verbena is the brightest green-citrus note we use, all crushed leaf and lemon sherbet. A small amount lifts a whole blend; too much and it shouts.
The source
Moroccan gardens
Lemon verbena was carried from South America to European gardens in the eighteenth century, and is now grown for its oil in Morocco. Steam-distilled from the leaf, picked young, it is the brightest green-citrus note we use.
