Hearth Candle
Specifications
Hearth is orange and clove and woodsmoke, the warmth of a kitchen that has been cooking all day. Sweet orange and mandarin, with cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, cedarwood and a base of tonka bean. Emily made it in deep winter, from a memory of her mother's kitchen in Limerick, the fire always going, the window steamed against the dark, nobody wanting to leave. Soy wax. Cotton wick. Amber glass. Hand-poured. Around 50 hours.

Every candle is hand-poured in small batches at our London workshop. Emily blends every scent and makes each batch by hand. The candles are then poured, labelled and finished by hand.
How to burn Hearth Candle.
A candle is only as good as the way it's burned. Four steps, the same for every Yougi vessel.

Trim the wick.
Before every burn, trim to a centimetre. A shorter wick prevents soot and smoke, and the flame runs clean.

Let the wax pool.
On the first burn, let the wax reach the edge of the vessel before you put it out. Two to four hours. This prevents tunnelling and protects your hours of burn.

Burn in sessions.
Two to four hours at a time. Let it rest between burns: the scent needs the pause.

Retire gracefully.
When the wax falls below a centimetre, stop burning. Send us the empty vessel and we'll refill it for thirty percent less than a new candle.
